A river runs through it

Thanks to the very kind endeavours of Meg at Pigtown Design, I was able to get my copy shop to paste together 6 of the 25 images of the Michel Etienne Turgot C18th map of Paris, and this has now replaced the silk fabric with its multicoloured dragonflies, that used to be in the window panel of my guest loo.

The angle at which I have to take the photograph, (to avoid the wall of mirror that faces you as you enter the loo), means that my shot doesn't perhaps give you the impact that this new effect produces.

But I have to say, I'm very pleased with the result. And very grateful to Meg for her computer and Photoshop skills.

And now a river really does run through my loo. The Seine.

Wow- that looks terrific. It definitely changes the look-amazing how something "simple" to a degree can do it. Love the bathroom- I ordered 2 maps from Meg's great post and they are gorgeous.Hope to use them at a client's upcoming. GT

Thanks. The rest of the lavatory is basically black and white, so the b&w map fits perfectly, and on the opposite wall is a silver-finished framed set of two pages from an C18th book, so they complement each other very well.

Wow! That looks beautiful. I know you lost some of the detail blowing it up, but it's very graphic. Excellent job.

Home recovering from a fall today, so am going to try scanning some of the large pieces between naps.

Thanks Meg. You obviously played a key role, for which I am much indebted. Actually not an adversely noticeable loss of detail, and it almost looks more authentic, (aged, antiqued)!

I am sorry to hear about your fall. I know what these are like, having had a similar experience nearly a year ago. I hope there's no lasting damage, and you make a speedy recovery.

Thanks! I am feeling much better. I am rather multi-coloured and the bruises will take some time to disappear, but no lasting damage.

I linked this post to the download one I just did.

Thank you Consummate Hostess. It took a bit of blood sweat and tears to unpick the silk cover which was stapled with about a hundred staples, and then to re-staple the pvc sheet to the wooden frame, but I'm ver happy with the result.

Glad you're not in too bad a shape, and thanks for the link.

Ooh, tres chic. Do you know about how much you enlarged the image?

Topsy Turvy: no, not exactly! I used Meg's file and asked the copy shop man to join together and enlarge six panels to 132cm x 46 cm wide, (as this was the size of my window). Hope my unscientific answer is helpful; as you can see, I'm not a mathematician!
