Two gold pockets watches from the Columnist's collection, hanging from Chinese blackwood stands, using silver "S" hooks, made to my order. I am not sure where my interest in collecting watches came from, but one of my ancestors was watchmaker to Queen Victoria, so perhaps that explains it. And my displeasure at tardiness.
We shall not pass this time again.

What a perfect way to display these watches!
They do rather do the job perfectly, (for which they were not designed), but adaptation is always a rewarding pastime I think.
Dear Columnist - How interesting that we both have a horological past in our genes. I hope you were able to catch my own story on watchmaking:

No, I had not read that post, but I am indebted to you for pointing it out to me. Your watchmaking background is much grander than mine, and Breguet is a name I very much recognise.
It's interesting that he created a watch for Marie Antoinette, because watches and clocks interested her husband Louis XVI, perhaps even more than she did in the early stages of their marriage, (but that could have been attributed to their young ages, he 15 and she 14).
Perhaps Breguet thought that his watch would be shown off to better advantage by Marie Antoinette. If she had lived, perhaps she would have worn it more visibly ...
Yes, perhaps even round her neck, if Mdm Guillotine had not severed those chances.
