Dear Columnist,

We are drinking the Bolly here in LA as the hour approaches. Best wishes to you and yours for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013.

And may the auction gods send some great deals our way in the upcoming year.

Enjoy your Bollinger; sounds eminently sensible to be drinking it right now where you are, (although I am sipping iced water!). All the very best for 2013, in every sense.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

I had my midnight cocoa laced with a couple of tablespoons of gripe water, just to see the year in.

Bollers and The Widow! You lot sound very well heeled. My sip was plain Cremant de Somewhere. Very best wishes, Cro.

Now that 2013 has officially arrived, we can wish you a Happy New Year.

Owl Wood - that's usually my tipple du jour, but I thought to hell with it, let's be madly extravagant. So we were. We drank and hardly ate anything. Happy New Year.

Cro Magnon - We searched the cellar high and low for cremant, but none was to be found. The empty bottle weighs a ton, so a couple of the footmen had to bring up. Best wishes for the new year.

Parnassus - indeed. A very happy new year to you.

I am not quite sure what I was drinking but this morning I notice my truck has somehow got itself stuck in the middle of the beach. Was I trying to take it for a swim? Just can't remember, not a damn thing... I also seem to have misplaced the wife.

Dear Columnist - Your bubbly is lost on me because I can't help being fixated on that elegant packaging! My preference for New Year's is Asti Spumanti, and I like the brand Martini because it reminds me of the neon Martini sign that faced my hotel in Florence. Happy New Year!

Hippo - losing one's mind is a very careless thing to do. Hope you've recovered, (the wife too).

columnist said...

Lindaraxa - my favourite too; I hope it augurs well. The markets seem to be very happy this morning.

columnist said...

Mark - yes the packaging is quite unusual - perhaps an Hermes bag? A bottle carrier yes, but it would elicit disappointment when the recipient found out it wasn't what it said on the label.

John Gray said...

Am loving that carrier
If milk bottles were delivered in something like tha then milkmen would be as common as muck

columnist said...

If milkmen delivered Veuve Clicquot I might move to UK! Thanks for stopping by, and all good wishes for the new year.

Happy New Year! Enjoy your delicious bubbles. I hope 2013 brings you many exciting art finds.

The bubbles have been well and truly consumed, and they were delicious. I am rather hoping what I am watching on the stock market screens isn't one...but at least we do not appear to be jumping off cliffs, if you get my drift.
