It's not Eid, but I am partaking of a salute to an important anniversary - a date that would have been the 84th birthday of my late mother. Well, 84 in mother years, as it turns out. But after a period of abstinence, we are indulging, now that the sun is truly over the yard arm.
Bangkok has experienced one of its first mostly sunny days for several weeks; we spent 40 minutes this morning at the pool, resuming a long overdue return to the normal daily regimen; perhaps the end of the monsoon is at hand, and the best season is titillating us. The crackling thunderstorms in recent nights have not made for an easy rest for the wicked. Something of the night indeed.
